The Forbidden Music

Bodies in dialogue – a festival for cultural resistance – schedule below!

Join us for three days of performances, capoeira festival, exhibition, great food, live shows, workshops, handmade crafts, music jams and movement! (full programme below)

The Bodies in Dialogue is a festival for cultural resistance, emphasising communication between different traditions and how cultural resistance is expressed through the body. The festival departs from the resistance practice of Capoeira and from the Forbidden Music project to welcome and embrace various traditions and expressions.

We have as a special guest the renowed Capoeira Master and organizer of cultural dialogue events Mestre Ediandro (Banzo de Senzala, Barcelona – ES, Santos, BR). The festival will host a series of workshops on embodied resistance, an interactive exhibition of the instruments made collectively during the Forbidden Music project, and a music playground made by Skrot Musik, capoeira trainings, music performances, Brazilian food by Grazy, traditional handcrafts, collective jams, and much more.

Do you want a festival shirt as a memory? bring a shirt or bag and you will have the possibility to, for a small fee, do a wood printing of the hand carved festival art!

The festival is completely free of charge.

About the project

(SV)

In the 70s NASA sent out a collection of sounds and music representing our planet. Who defines and who decides what represents the plurality of our planet?

Instruments and their music has been forbidden and marginalized all around the world because they represented a fight for freedom. Freedom from colonization, freedom from racism, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of gender stereotypes, freedom in all forms.

What is the sound of the Earth when the voice is not only of the powerful?

The Forbidden Music project runs through 5 open workshops. Dates and times will be annouced beforehand in the ”news & events” page
